Dynasties have been going around Indian politics since getting independence British. India was constituted by many kingdoms earlier and then ruled by Islamic rulers followed by British. Dynasties was not uncommon for the kings and rulers. Democracy should never encourage and the politicians should always keep family out of power. But India has thriving dynasties in almost every political party.
Congress party is the baap of all, when it comes to maintaining political dynasties.
Nehrus/Gandhis: Motilal Nehru, Jawaharlal Nehru, Vijayalakshmi Pandit, Indira Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi
Yadavs: Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav and so on
Thackerays: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray, Aditya
Abdullahs: The National Conference party in power in Jammu and Kashmir, Sheikh Abdullah, Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah; Mufti Muhammed Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti
Patnaiks: Odisha Biju Patnaik, Naveen Patnaik
It has become very common that the parent grooming the son/daughter to take over their political legacy. The family continues to rule the state or country in some way. The two Telugu states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is no different in maintaining and continuing dynasties. While Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is grooming his son to take his position in the party, Telangana chief minister K Chandra Shekar Rao already trained his daughter Kavitha and his son KTR well with the Telangana agitation and becoming ministers.
Chandrababu Naidu brought his son, Lokesh, into the party and keep on making amendments to his position. Lokesh never even got the approval from people of the state about his capabilities. But he is slowly growing in the party and he could become the pappu of TDP. Rahul Gandhi is trolled more than he can chew and Lokesh needs to learn something from it. It is time for Naidu to give importance to a non-family member to be number 2.
KCR has his son taking the role of “next to CM” as he works across all the ministries. His daughter, Kavitha is an MP and his nephew Harish Rao is a minister in his cabinet, who is more capable to become the heir of KCR’s legacy than his own kids. But kids come first before the state and nephew. It is being said that KTR will be the next CM after 1 or 2 terms and KCR will try to get cabinet berth for his daughter at the Center.
The regional parties have their insecurities in making anyone number 2. If one looks att he regional parties, every one of them is like a dictator and never have number 2 and if they do, it is their son/daughter. Be it Jayalalithaa, KCR, Naidu, Mamta Banerjee, Mufti, Abdullah, Lalu, Kejriwal fall into the same category.
Party workers whoever work hard for the benefit of the party should be give more responsible positions and let them grow. This is the way BJP works. Otherwise, we should have never get Modi in PM chair, but it should be the children of LK Advani or Murali Manohar Joshi or any senior leaders. We never heard the names of their family members.
The two Telugu states have the chief ministers with inflated egos, compete in unnecessary things like, building temples, building government buildings, and also compete in corruption. Both the states are not functioning in the right direction and trying to appease people in different ways. Initially extending the retirement age, increasing Muslim quota, changing BC quota and building hifi buildings. Till now, it has been all talks and no achievements to show so far. Both the governments are totally corrupted and it is easily visible everywhere. The people feel there is no choice of parties as TRS dominates in Telangana and Naidu seems to be the only option in AP.
